John Evans Interior Architecture and Design recently announced that its design scheme for the new Bensons for Beds concept store in Rotherham has been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards 2012.
Â
By transforming the way the retailers’ beds are displayed and boosting turnover in the process, this significant project will contest the ‘Best Retail DisplayÂ’ category, with the winner to be revealed at a gala ceremony on Friday 30 November 2012, at Manchester Central.
Â
John Evans Interior Architecture & Design worked closely with Bensons for Beds and integrated communications agency, Public, on this project. The John Evans team focused on the concept store’s interior to reflect the high quality of beds and bedroom furniture within the store.
Â
“The brief was to design a concept store that was unique and completely different from the look and feel of the traditional retailer,” said John Evans, Director at the practice. “By displaying a great value product in a high quality interior ensures it appears to be even better value to the customer. We abandoned the stereotypical bright, industrial lighting and regimented rows of beds to create an inspirational, less intimidating store that was in tune with the customer.”
Â
The Northern Design Awards bring together designers, retailers and property developers in a celebration of Northern design and style.
