The British Institute of Interior Design has unveiled two exciting Continuing Professional Development sessions for the first quarter of 2013 – “Presentation Skills for Designers” and “The Art Market Revealed”.
“Presentation Skills for Designers” will provide designers with an understanding of the principles of face-to-face communication so that they can present their ideas with clarity and conviction. Presenter, Claudette Williams, owner and chief presenter at expert consultancy Creatively Speaking, will encourage designers to be less reliant upon visual stimulus when presenting by gaining an understanding of “less is more”. Participants will be shown how to get the maximum impact from their choice of visuals and how to improve their ability to get buy-in during the presentation by taking control of the presentation process. The CPD will take place on 31 January 2013 at RIBA’s offices.
In “The Art Market Revealed”, renowned art specialist, Anthony Thompson, will help designers navigate the seemingly impenetrable varnish of the art market. He will open doors to help them establish contacts and make best use of the extensive suppliers and material available in the constantly expanding marketplace in London. Beginning in South Kensington, designers will visit dealers, art agents and sale rooms, as well as restorers and framers, and see some of the ‘hidden art market’ only known to those on the inside. The CPD will take place on Tuesday 5th February.
