Jessica Zoob is a British contemporary artist who works from her Lewes home and studio. She exhibits regularly in and around London and has works in private collections worldwide.
“Jessica Zoob creates abstract worlds in which the imagination can roam freely and pleasurably through deeply-layered, impressionistic landscapes. I find her work both emotive and engaging”.
Nicole Swengley, Journalist, the Financial Times How to Spend It.
“I work mainly with oil paint as it has exceptional properties,” says Jessica. “It gives colours solidity, lustre and depth, while its transparency makes wonderful glazes. I also use acrylic colour for its iridescence and metallic qualities, and its magical capacity to change or enhance overlying colours depending on the play of light on the picture, or the position of the viewer. I use gels textured with glass, cement, sand or crushed garnet and gesso in order to build a painting’s underlying structure.
“Many of the paintings are created by a process of building up and scraping back layers of paint. Pouring liquid glazes onto the canvas forces me to work with complete spontaneity. I am interested in creating art which engages the viewer’s imagination and lifts their spirits. I am perhaps rather old fashioned as I am interested in beauty ! I would probably describe my work as contemporary impressionism.”
2013 had been an incredible year for Jessica:
The launch of her online store selling limited edition prints of her works, on paper, canvas or diasec. A selection of miniatures and limited edition prints from her new ‘Zoob Street Art’ collection. In March Passion 2 from Jessica’s ‘Passion’ collection was hung in the drawing room designed by Mary Fox Linton at “Wool House”. The biggest ever celebration of wool hosted at Somerset House.
“I was so fortunate to have met Jessica earlier this year and to see her paintings, which are stunningly beautiful and unique. A photograph cannot do justice to her paintings. Abstracted and atmospheric, the textures and vitality of her paintings need to be seen to be appreciated.” – Mary Fox-Linton.
A successful London solo show ‘Dancing With Colour’ hosted by the Loughran Gallery where Harry Styles bought Passion 5 one of Jessica’s personal favourites. “Jessica’s work is simply beautiful, I can’t help but smile when I see it.” Juliette Loughran- Loughran Gallery.
The launch of ‘Adventure’ an extraordinary sculpture made with Karl Smith of Carved Oak in collaboration with Swarovski at Decorex International which will also be showcased at Loughran Gallery’s exhibition One, next door to Tate Modern, this December.
An exciting collaboration with ROMO Black Edition who have skilfully recreated Jessica’s paintings for the exclusive DESIRE collection of printed fabrics, wall coverings and fabrics. The cushions are now available from their online store (http://www.romoblack.com/collections/shop/shop-cushions) and the fabrics and wall coverings will be launched in January 2014.

“Jessica’s work is absolutely inspiring. Her pieces have a mystic quality that transports you to magical places. The movement and textures in her paintings are exciting, calming and intriguing – all at the same time. We have worked with Jessica on a number of commissions, and she’s surpassed our expectations every time.” Daniel Kostiuc – Intarya.
