Goodman’s Men’s Store at Bergdorf Goodman, New York, has announced the late August opening of the new Goodman’s Bar, designed by David Collins Studio, marking the culmination of the store’s three year renovation.
Goodman’s Bar will be located in the store’s Second Floor rotunda, overlooking the main floor. It will be the newest in a group of iconic designs by David Collins Studio including Claridge’s Bar, The Blue Bar at The Berkeley and The Connaught Bar. The bar will feature an aesthetic motif inspired by a vintage navy blue and racing green spotted print reminiscent of a scarf that belonged to the late David Collins. “Our signature use of colour, detail and finish, created exclusively for Goodman’s Bar, will ensure the discerning Bergdorf Goodman clientele are treated to hospitality worthy of the brand” said Simon Rawlings, Creative Director of David Collins Studio.
The twenty-eight person bar will provide a place for customers to enjoy coffee in the morning, light fare throughout the day and a full bar open on weeknights until 8pm featuring a selection of local wines, artisanal liquor and handcrafted cocktails.
Joshua Schulman, President of Bergdorf Goodman commented, “We were thrilled to collaborate with David Collins Studio on Goodman’s Bar. We anticipate that over time, Goodman’s Bar will become a favourite spot in Midtown Manhattan to meet for an afternoon cocktail or light lunch. We envision Goodman’s Bar being as integral to our men’s store as the BG Restaurant is to our women’s store”.
Simon Rawlings added, “Goodman’s Bar has been inspired by a pocket square. Taking inspiration from men’s tailoring and vintage fabric patterns, the print design has been painted and gilded across the oak panelled room by a New York artist creating a strong, simple and elegant design. A statement gentleman’s colour way of navy blue, racing green and ivory is set against antique brass.” He finished “We are delighted to be working with Bergdorf Goodman on this very special project.”
