Pollen House, 10 Cork Street, is a striking building built in 1924-1925. It is situated in Mayfair; one of Londonís most sought after areas and has recently had an office refurbishment. Ben Adams Architects high spec deign, resulted in an attractive environment but one that needed attention to the existing steel windows to minimise traffic noise. Selectaglaze, leading designers of Secondary Glazing were approached for advice. By treating each window with 6.8mm acoustic laminated glass a noise reduction of about 45dB was achieved. The minimal frames with flush hinges and locks provide clean lines, which complement the existing windows. An additional benefit of the secondary glazing is an approximate halving of heat loss and near elimination of draughts. Founded in 1966, and Royal Warrant holders since 2004, Selectaglaze Ltd has a wealth of experience working in buildings of all styles, including listed properties.
