NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official annual citywide celebration of design, will take place this year from Friday 8th until Tuesday 19th May 2015.
Now in its third year, NYCxDESIGN serves as the platform to highlight New York City’s diverse design community and its contributions to the fabric and economy of the five boroughs.
The celebration will span all disciplines of design, from architecture to interior design, product design to fashion, showcasing designers and their work from around the world. The programme will include exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios.
The following events are returning as NYCxDESIGN participants this May:
· BKLYN DESIGNS (8th – 10th May) – The Brooklyn design event for contemporary furniture, lighting, accessories and art.
· WantedDesign Brooklyn (9th – 19th May) – Discover large-scale and multi-disciplinary design installations.
· Collective Design (13th – 17th May) – Celebrate design innovation and thinking from the start of the 20th century to the present day and take designer-led tours of special installations.
· Frieze Art Fair (14th – 17th May) – One of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, bringing together over 190 of the most exciting galleries working today.
· WantedDesign Manhattan (15th – 18th May) – A meeting point for designers, manufacturers, buyers, distributors, craftsmen, students, design institutions, media and all design lovers.
· ICFF (16th – 19th May) – More than 700 exhibitors from around the world display contemporary furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, textiles and more for residential and commercial interiors.
The 2015 NYCxDESIGN programme was discussed during a design community kickoff event at the recently reopened Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, where enhancements to the www.nycxdesign.com website, including the ability to curate lists and categorise events, were demonstrated.
Highlights of the 2015 celebration will include a launch party hosted by WantedDesign Brooklyn at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
New this year, ICFF is offering international design week organisations complimentary exhibition space in an effort to expand the international reach of NYCxDESIGN.
