Chamberlain & Co return to Maison & Objet to exhibit the entire George III Collection and premiere the Birlingham Box and Comberton Vase.
The vase is decorated in the Vignette Style, with six cartouches highlighted by a turquoise colour ground reflecting the historic colours used in British ceramics in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries.
The turquoise adds a certain dynamic to the colours found in the hand painted flowers within each vignette. This vase stands an impressive 570 mm tall. The dramatic handles take their inspiration from acanthus leaves, a leaf that has been synonymous with ornamental ceramics through the centuries and also continues the motif running through the George III collection. Each leaf tip is embellished by hand with 23 Karat Gold. Taking over 100 hours to hand decorate this truly is a piece that can be admired for hours and will be treasured for eternity.
