New id Interiors were recently commissioned by Places for People to design and install a show home at their new development in the Edinburgh Hub, Urban Eden. The development is themed around the original 19th century colony houses, built to house Edinburgh’s growing population of skilled artisans.
The development is designed to provide stylish urban living, being part of the city whilst also being separate from it, providing a mixture of apartments, terraces houses, court yard houses and town houses
Urban Eden was an interesting challenge for our designer, Victoria Kember. The brief was to design a 4 bedroom town house that would appeal to a young, trendy urban family. Victoria created the urban look and feel of the home through the liberal use of different woods and textures
A lot of colour was utilised in her design to keep it fun and appealing to the young families that are expected to be purchasing at Urban Eden and the house was dressed with many plants in order to bring the outside in, the results as can be seen in the images speak for them selves
Victoria said of her design “I had a clear brief to target the design to young trendy family’s and I have designed a vibrant and fun interior to suit the audience, with in my design I incorporated two themed children’s rooms for ages 8 and 12, which I felt represented the people we were tasked to appeal to. This was a fun design for me, one which I really enjoyed!”
