The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has revealed the first speakers for its much-anticipated 2018 annual conference; Inside Knowledge 2018: The BIID Business Success Conference.
The guest speakers include BIID members John Evans and Seána Clarke, who will be sharing their knowledge and experience to help interior designers develop their businesses.
John Evans: How dividing the face of my company in two transformed my business
Having started his career in interior retail and exhibition design commissions, John Evans has been creating classic-contemporary interior design for over 35 years.
John’s abilities as a modern creative designer and his appreciation of classical architecture and detail, have allowed him to create interior spaces that evoke clean simplicity with a comfortable balance of proportion and scale. John is also a great admirer of the craft of furniture design, often designing individual pieces for clients as ‘finishing touches’ to interior schemes.
In his talk; ‘How dividing the face of my company in two transformed my business’, John will explain how both sides of his company; John Evans Interior Architecture and Design Ltd (residential) and JE+1 Interiors for Retail (retail) has benefitted his brand and allowed him to retain clients and target different audiences, showing attendees how best to balance two businesses in different sectors.
Seána Clarke: How integrating interior design and architecture benefited my design projects
With a degree in Interior Architecture, Seána Clarke now works for HollandGreen, a high-end residential architects practice in the UK. HollandGreen specialise in high-end contemporary new builds and extensions, and sympathetic renovations to period properties, as well as undertaking specific projects such as barn conversions, basements or swimming pools.
Seána’s personal belief is that no design is solely her own; it is the result of a collaborative process with the design team and, most importantly, the client. She believes her success is down to developing relationships with architects early on in a project and will be sharing her experience with fellow interior designers at the conference. Her talk; ‘How integrating interior design and architecture benefited my design projects’ will allow attendees to gain an understanding of how this will not only improve their value as interior designers but will improve their project’s efficiency and relationship with the client.
Inside Knowledge 2018: The BIID Business Success Conference will be taking place on Thursday 8th November at 30 Euston Square, London and will provide interior designers with invaluable knowledge and practical sessions to support them in their professional careers. Further speakers will be announced soon.
Gilly Craft, President of the BIID comments: “We’re delighted to be able to announce such fantastic speakers for the 2018 Conference, who will no doubt be able to provide invaluable guidance for attendees on the day. Our programme promises to be a thought-provoking, exciting and incredibly inspiring day, with practical business advice that interior designers can put into action straight away.”
