Studiofibre, the dynamic studio of UK-based designer-makers for major global luxury brands, has delivered a new 25,000 square foot workspace in downtown Los Angeles for Farfetch, the global technology platform for the luxury fashion industry.
This stunning space is set against the backdrop of LA and the Hollywood Hills, with exceptional views framing the bespoke interior design narrative. The workspace is located at 700 South Flower street, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
Studiofibre has been Farfetch’s global design partner since 2015, and the studio’s evolving design narrative continues to roll out in a series of Farfetch ‘Urban Neighbourhoods’ around the globe.
The multi-location approach is key to keeping the teams mobile between locations, and ensuring they are connected with the city, the people, and the culture.
Fiona Livingston, Co-Founder, Studiofibre, said, “Farfetch may be a digital company – but it is driven by real world fashion, trends and lifestyle. It’s essential that the Farfetch teams globally are at the centre of everything, getting out and about and understanding what their customers ultimately want rather than operating in a bubble. Hence the city-centre locations and the company culture of encouraging movement – whether that be to very different environments within one workspace, or movement between the different Farfetch locations within a major city. Movement keeps the teams connected to the real world, and different macro and micro environments facilitate collaboration, creativity and stimulate productivity.”
The overall design scheme of the new Los Angeles space draws on the unique DNA of the Farfetch brand, which is characterised by the collision of pioneering technology and global luxury fashion. Farfetch has successfully enabled the fashion and retail industry and Studiofibre’s bespoke approach, designing and crafting tailor-made furniture, fixtures and fittings, ensures that the Farfetch design narrative is as unique, luxurious and groundbreaking as the brand itself.
Considering its location, Studiofibre has evolved the existing Farfetch design narrative, drawing on the Californian setting for materials and including new features designed to enhance wellbeing and productivity. The colour palette is a mix of warm, rich ombres, natural woods (bamboo, beech and walnut), luxurious Calacatta marble and copper accents (including lighting rigs and tiles crafted from the burnished metal). These are offset by verdant foliage that wraps the internal pillars. Homage is paid to the Californian location through the use of native materials, stucco backdrops and local planting. The macro environment of the Farfetch workspace is designed to foster a sense of belonging and communication, whilst diverse micro environments within the space serve not only to further bring the Farfetch brand to life, but also to support the needs of the workforce.
Studiofibre has also designed the Farfetch LA office space to accommodate various neighbourhoods which give the highly mobile workforce the ability to choose the working environment that best suits their requirements, depending on the task in hand. Movement around a space is important to keep the brain active and different physical environments can have a powerful effect on performance.
