Good Design with The Good Plastic Company

The Good Plastic Company create distinctive recycled plastic surface materials for environmentally conscious interior design projects.

The environmental crisis makes sustainability an essential consideration for any interior project; in particular, the issue of plastic waste and the rate at which even more plastic is being produced and discarded,  demands a large-scale response. Yet many companies that advertise environmentally friendly materials can only manufacture them in limited quantities with an unreliable supply.

Polygood is a surface material made from 100% recycled plastic by The Good Plastic Company. Being made from a single type of plastic, it can be recycled again at the end of its economic life, offering a truly circular solution. It is available in large volumes from stock or with short lead times.

The distinctive aesthetics of this material equal its sustainable advantages – each pattern has its own unique back story. Polygood panels are produced from various post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste sources, from refrigerators to single-use cutlery, electronics, and industrial consumables.

The Good Plastic Company has developed its own equipment for reusing plastics from various waste streams. This enables the team to collect a wide range of data parameters during the process, including temperature and melting points, pressure, time, and melt flow index. This proprietary technology enables the team to produce panels of the highest  quality, as confirmed by laboratory test result.

Wall panels and shelving, retail counters and displays, signage and storage systems – every shop, hotel counter, or office space can give new life to up to 10 tonnes of recycled plastic, the perfect combination of style and sustainability. The Polygood material is also ideal for creating stands or booths for trade shows, summits, and other events and visibly demonstrates a company’s environmentally conscious choices.

In just over three years on the market the company has supplied Polygood panels for over 500 projects worldwide. As a result, its products can be seen in the premises of global brands such as Nike, Adidas, IKEA, McDonald’s, Karl Lagerfeld, Coach, and UNIQLO, with some of the brand designers collaborating with The Good Plastic Company’s technicians to create bespoke patterns that complement their branding.

With two production facilities in Europe, this year they have processed more than 1,500 tonnes of recycled plastic, and its impact will continue to grow as it plans to open more factories in other parts of the world in the near future.

The Good Plastic Company are well placed to realise their mission to make a serious contribution to the challenge of plastic waste. As CEO of the company, Dr William Chizhovsky says, “Today, the materials market is just getting used to the emergence of sustainable materials. Our mission is to transform the market so that sustainable materials are valued as highly as traditional materials. By including recycled plastic in more projects, we can help to lead the market towards a circular economy and have a tangible impact commensurate with the scale of the problem.”
