Rima has recently completed a luxurious ‘His-and-Hers’ bathroom design within a London family home. The bathroom is situated within the Master Suite, which also consists of a lounge, a dressing room, and the bedroom area.
Here, Rima discusses how she balanced function and form to create a beautiful and seamless bathroom design.
How did you balance the clients individual preferences while maintaining a cohesive design?
We created a secluded area for a relaxing bath for Her and separate vanities of course, with an elaborate beauty space for hair and make-up. For Him, we included an enlarged shower area – with a rain shower and multiple jets – and a WC with a glass enclosure.
What are the best ways to maximise storage and functionality in both his and hers bathrooms without sacrificing aesthetic appeal?
Unifying areas with beautiful finishes, in this case, marble inlay with metallic accents. Concealing cabinetry and storage within niches in the walls and secluding specific areas within glass enclosures. Using marble instantly combines functionality with timeless elegance.
Can you suggest design solutions for creating privacy and separation in the shared spaces of a his and hers bathroom layout?
Creating secluded spaces through the use of frosted glass and additional wall partitions. Wall partitions may become focal points, adorned with beautiful mosaic or inset with contrasting materials namely glass or enamel.
What unique elements did you include to make the bathroom feel luxurious and modern?
We used one off pieces, such as the bronze leaf mirror adorned with foliage to add luxury and elegance; and elaborate hand-made woven light fixtures to complete the look.
